Andrew's mission is quickly drawing to a close.  He will complete his missionary service on Tuesday, August 16th and will be reporting on his mission experience during church on Sunday, August 21st at 9:00 am.  He will be speaking with his younger brother, Eli, who will be departing six weeks from today for the Washington Tacoma Mission.

The Church is true, the Book is blue, and Moroni's still on the ball!

Spring is wonderful. The weather in Tri-Cities is great during this time of year. It's so nice to have four seasons. :) Utah just can't seem to have Spring for more than a week or two.

 

The work is going well, we had three investigators at church: two part-member families, the Plumb family and the Morfin family. The Plumbs are doing great! Sister Plumb is now on day nine of no coffee, and we're going to be setting a baptismal date with her tonight, now that she's a little farther along and is committed. Their 16 year old daughter is also really interested and has been asking all sorts of awesome questions about missionaries, the Book of Mormon, and church. She really wants to be a missionary. Which is awesome, except for the fact that she needs to be baptized first. :)

 

The Morfins are doing great too! Erica, the 10 year old now has a baptismal date set for May 14th

. It was going to be May 6th, but not everyone from the family was going to be there, including, her 16 year old brother, who was just sustained to be ordained a priest, and who is going to be able to baptize her!

 

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that it has the power to change and fix broken lives, broken hearts, and broken souls. I know that because it has changed me. I have heard a lot of people say that their mission has changed their life, and I would say the same, but even more importantly than that, the Gospel of Jesus Christ has changed my life, and I am eternally grateful for that.

Hello from Pasco! (for the 3rd time)

Elder Torgersen and I have had a great week. It's only been five or six days into the transfer, and we have had a lot of great things happen already. Five investigators came to church! The Plumbs, the Morfins, and Frank and Jasmine! The Plumb family has been investigating for a few weeks. Brother Plumb is a less-active member, and he and his non-member wife both want to come to church. We've been working with Sister Plumb to quit coffee, but other than that, they are doing so well! The Morfins are another part-member family who have a nine-year old, Erica, who is ready to be baptized. Frank and Jasmine, a young couple who are living with Jasmine's grandma, who is a member, came as well. 

There are so many good things happening in the Pasco 9th ward! This ward has had a great history of being on fire with missionary work, and they are still on fire. We have been able to involve members in a lot of what we have been doing, especially in bringing investigators to church. The wards here in Pasco North have so much potential to help people progress and to find new investigators. 

Elder Torgersen is a great missionary. He talks to everyone, is obedient, and is so willing to serve and help anyone out. We have been able to do a lot of on-the-spot service and we have a lot planned for this coming week because Elder Torgersen just keeps asking people and is sincere when he asks. I've learned a lot from him already about loving people, and really desiring their salvation. 

I have spend much more time this past week in chapter 3 of PMG, which has been incredible. There is so much to find there. Since transfer day on Wednesday, I have spent at least 30-45 minutes in chapter three everyday except one. And I have probably learned more in my personal study this past week than many other weeks where I haven't been as diligent in studying the doctrine. Over the course of my mission, I have truly come to love Preach My Gospel and the scriptures. They are wonderful. This morning, I spent about 15 minutes answering the question "what do I love about my mission?" in my study journal. I felt the Spirit very powerfully as I completed my list with "I love my Savior" and "I love my Father." As I wrote those down, I thought of a line in PMG on page 151 that says "your attitude toward your mission experience is a reflection of your love for your Heavenly Father and His Son, and your respect for the priesthood." It was an amazing reminder about how much this gospel and my experience as a missionary means to me. 

Overall, I'm doing well, Elder Torgersen in doing well, our area has some amazing things happening, our investigators are progressing and coming to church, and the Church is true!

"Through the Atonement comes permanence of purity!"

We got our transfer calls earlier today. I'm going to be transferred back to the Pasco North Zone, which I just left two transfers ago. This will make three transfers in a row where I have been transferred after serving for only one transfer in an area. This will also be my 12th companion and 9th area. As disappointed as I am to leave Richland, and all the investigators we have been finding over the last few weeks, I am excited to be back in Pasco (for the 3rd time). My new companion's name is Elder Torgersen. He's been out for about seven or eight months. I'm really excited to work with him. I've never really interacted with him much, but I've heard a ton of good things about him. 

We had an absolutely fantastic week! One investigator accepted a baptismal date of the 28th of April, and three more committed to be baptized on the 30th. The first one, Jacob, is nine years old. He's number 4 of a 6-kid, single parent, semi-active family. We've been working with the whole family, trying to get them to come back to church, for about a month now. We had Stake Conference yesterday, and all of them came! One cool moment with them was a few weeks ago, we taught them a lesson on family prayer and scripture study, and committed them to read and pray as a family every day. Since that lesson, the only times they have missed are when the 16 daughter was in the ER with kidney stones. We're super excited for them. 

One of the other investigators we have, Tanner, is another 9 year old in a semi-active family. His mom and brother both came to Stake Conference as well. He's the funniest 9 year old ever. He's pretends to be super stubborn and difficult, but really he's just waiting to be baptized and to feel the Spirit more in his life. 

The other two investigators are a mother and a 10 year old son, Elena and Angel. Elena's parents are on date for this Saturday in Omak, WA (used to be in our mission, it's up near Canada). Their missionaries sent us the referral. We contacted them on Wednesday night with our High Priest Group Leader out with us. We had an absolutely perfect lesson with them. We taught simply that God loves them and that the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ will bless their families more than anything else, then extended an invitation to make that Gospel a permanent part of their lives by being baptized by someone who had the proper authority from God. They were so excited! As we were leaving, Angel said to his mom "can they come over every day?" It was one of the most spiritual lessons I've had on my mission. Brother Rose, the member we had with us, was absolutely incredible. He helped a ton by providing his testimony and inviting Elena to church. 

We also have been in a tri-panionship since Friday. One of the elders in our zone went home before the actual transfer date, so we have had Elder Meteer with us, covering both the Crestview and Duportail wards. It's been fun to be with another elder. When I got to my second area, I was put in a tri-pan for four weeks, so it's been a lot of fun to do it again. 

All-in-all, it's been an absolutely incredible week, filled with all sorts of changes and miracles and little experiences that have deepened my testimony of a loving Savior, who invites us every day to repent and to "yield to the enticings of the Holy Spirit." I studied Mosiah 3:19 this morning, and learned more about how the atonement can change us from fallen man, into the glorious beings we are capable of becoming. In companionship study, the three of us came up with this quote: "Through our own efforts comes temporary improvement, but through the Atonement comes a permanence of purity." 

I know that this Gospel is true, and that Jesus Christ is our Savior, the only one who can give us the personal peace that we need day to day to make it to our Heavenly home.

Happy Easter

Hello Everyone! 

For Preparation Day today, we hiked Badger Mountain (it's not really a mountain, everyone from Utah calls it Badger Bump) with our zone. You can basically see our whole mission except for the Hermiston and Walla Walla zones, and the areas out in the boonies. 

Happy lateEaster! We almost didn't have an Easter dinner because our dinner calendar coordinator has been in Ireland for the past week and a half, but our Ward Mission Leader came to the rescue and invited us over. :) We also had a really cool lesson with a less-active family. We were talking about Easter and the conversation led itself to baptism and the nine year old boy pipes up and says "I want to get baptized!" Needless to say, we had a pretty good night. :) 

We found another family to teach! Richland is just popping with families! The sisters in the next ward over gave us a referral for a woman named Rachel who was taught by elders previously, but stopped meeting with them because she felt that her questions weren't being answered. So we have our first lesson with Rachel, her husband Brad, and their 11 year old daughter, and they basically drown us with a fire-hose of questions until we tell them that we have 5 lessons that we teach people and that as they listen to those lessons, and keep the commitments we will extend, including coming to church and reading the Book of Mormon, that their questions would be answered. They loved that idea. :) So we're going back tonight to teach the Restoration. :) 

The work is hastening, and the work is true! I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and am so grateful for the opportunity to serve him and to assist Him in fulfilling His and our Father's purpose for His children. This weekend will be General Conference, a wonderful time of the year when we can hear from God's authorized representatives and hear what God Himself would say to us. (Amos 3:7) Please make this General Conference weekend special by inviting someone you know who is not a member of the Church or who has not come for a while to watch it with you. It will make your experience so much more meaningful. And keep sharing #Hallelujah!

A good week this week. We had our temple trip today (thus the email on Wednesday). I love the temple. It's such a fantastic place. We are really blessed as a mission to have the Colombia River Temple in our boundaries. And it's only 20 minutes away from most of the mission too. That's nice. :)

We had a fantastic day yesterday. We had a member out with us from 6:00 to 9:30. We a super brief lesson to a new investigator, Steven, invited him to church and set up another lesson for today. We were also able to teach a lesson to a part-member family, the Smiths, who agreed to take the lessons and learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The member we brought shared his testimony and his re-conversion story. That above anything else we did brought the Spirit to the lesson. It is amazing what the testimony of someone who is simply living the gospel in their daily life can do. And coming from one of their peers, it really impacts an investigator, sometimes in a way that the full-time missionaries can't duplicate.

It is a great way to share your testimony of Jesus Christ. As you share it, please remember to accompany the video with your testimony of Christ and a simple invitation to act. In Jesus Christ we can find new life

This has been another crazy week! Elder Poulter and I have seen a lot of great things happen, especially with the less-active members we are working with. We also found a family to teach! At 8:40 on Monday night, we were going to drop by a returning member, and we saw a lady sitting outside smoking. As we walked up to her, she started to say that she wasn't interested and that she didn't really believe in God. We kept talking to her about her experiences with religion, and eventually her husband Ryan came outside and started talking with us. After a few minutes, Jessica (the wife) asked us if we just wanted to come inside because it was kind of cold. After we went inside, they started asking all sorts of incredible questions about tithing, and church attendance, and what it was like to be a member of the Church. We were able to answer all of their questions and testify of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are excited to continue to visit them and share with them and their four children (2 sets of twins ages 8 and 9) more about the gospel! As we were leaving the lesson Jessica told us that as we were walking up, she was starting to tell us to get off her property and that she didn't want to talk with us, but the words couldn't come out. They literally choked in her throat. 

This Sunday the Church is beginning a 2016 Easter Initiative. At the center of the Initiative with be a two minute video that testifies that in Jesus Christ we can find new life. The Initiative is going to be focused on the hashtag #Hallelujah. When the video comes out on the 13th, please share it with everyone you can! As missionaries, we have access to it on our missionary portal early, so Elder Poulter and I have been sharing it with just about everyone we talk with. We were invited to teach the High Priests group yesterday. The topic was Chapter 4 from Preach My Gospel. We shared the video after promising them that they would be prompted to think of someone they could help as the watched it, and invited each of them to act on the prompting. It was a great experience.

ZLC and Zone Council were both great experiences as well. As Elder Poulter and I planned for them, we realized that we wanted the Spirit to be the teacher. Almost all of the time in both meetings was spent counseling about what we as leaders and what we as a zone could do to further the work with the members and with the Easter Initiative. As a zone, we came up with a lot of good ideas to build the member's respect. We committed the zone to spend time each day planning how they can use the #Hallelujah Initiative and how they can apply what we talked about in regards to member respect.

Today I got news that my Grandpa Dunford passed away. It was expected and only a matter of time until he passed on. I am grateful that the Plan of Salvation is taught in the Church as something that is absolutely real. I know that my family with be together forever again. I am grateful that I have a loving Father in Heaven who is aware of each of His children, and has called me and so many others to share the good news with those who don't have it in their lives.

New Transfer

Transfers have left me with a new companion and a new area. Elder Poulter and I were doubled into the Crestview ward (still in Richland) on Wednesday. I have now been doubled in 5 times compared to the 3 times I have been transferred normally. Elder Poulter is pretty much the coolest missionary ever! He's from SLC, UT, and we were in the same group coming into the mission field. We're really excited to be together in this ward. There are so many solid members who are excited to finally have some Elders. There have been sisters in the Crestview ward for a long time, so were excited to take the elders and high priests out with us and work more with the youth, especially the Young Men. 

I'm so glad that I'm a missionary! It's a great work that brings so much joy! I know that families can be together forever because of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Hello Everyone!

Hello Everyone!

So, in the past month, I have been able to see 4 people that I have previously taught be baptized and make a covenant to follow Christ. This week was Brenda. If any one you remember Mike Gilbert, who I taught, was baptized, and then passed away a few months later, this is his wife. She was so happy to be baptized and get on the track to the temple where she can be sealed to her husband. It was one of the best baptismal services I've been to. The ward packed the Relief Society room full, and the Spirit was very strong. 

We had a good week too. We found three awesome new investigators, Sam, David, and Barbara. Sam accepted a baptismal date of the 12th, and we are excited that he is going to progress. The bad news is that we got our transfer calls last night. I

m going to be doubled into the Crestview Ward (I'm staying in the same stake and zone) with Elder Poulter. I'm really excited to serve there, even if it means I have to leave the Colombia ward. 

Being a missionary is the best thing I've ever done. There are so many incredible experiences that I've had that there is no way I could ever remember them all or write them all down. But I have learned for myself that Jesus Christ is my Savior and the Savior of the world. Have a great week as you remember Christ!

Baptisms :)

I love it when people get baptized! :) Last Saturday, Elder Coleman and I got to go back to Hermiston for Mo and her daughter Iyanelli's baptism. Then this last Saturday, we got to go back again and see Robert's baptism! I am so glad and grateful that our mission is small enough that we can see those we taught get baptized. There is nothing more rewarding or fulfilling as a missionary than to see someone you have worked so hard with and prayed so much for be immersed by someone who holds priesthood authority from Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father.

Eventful week!!

This was a crazy week! We got our transfer calls last week! I have been transferred to Richland! Now there are only two zones in our mission that I haven't served in! My new companion's name is Elder Williamson. He's been out for 6 months, and he's from Riverside, California. Our ward here is fantastic. We have a lot of investigators who are really close to baptism, but just need a solid baptismal date. 

We had an awesome evening last night. We had a good dinner with an awesome member family. Then we took that member with us to give a blessing to Jennifer, one of the investigators that I hadn't met yet. She has so many crazy things happening in her life, including a daughter who is addicted to heroin. We had a great lesson with here, and really felt the Spirit. And now she is excited to come to church and work towards being baptized! We followed that up with a lesson with a new investigator, Phil, who committed to read the Book of Mormon and continue to meet with us! We've had a great first week here in Richland. 

I got an email today from Elder Brinkerhoff, one of my old companions who is in the Yakima Mission now, today. This is the first paragraph:

"This week began with the news that my dear friend Brian Kisner had passed away. This is news that came only soon after I was given word that another dear friend Mike Gilbert had suffered a heart attack. I found out last p-day from a Zone leader currently serving in second ward and also Elder Thompson that Brian had passed away while traveling in Idaho over the Christmas break. Christmas Eve was his last day on Earth. I had the wonderful opportunity to attend his funeral this morning and be reunited with my Yakima 2nd ward family. The funeral was presided over and conducted by Bishop Christensen: A very spiritual giant and one of my heroes. He bore powerful testimony of the Savior and His love for us. Brian's powerful passion for life was remembered by his loving mother Rochelle and his son Jeremy. They had many wonderful memories to share with us and lots of laughs from his former days fixing up and riding motorcycles! That made me very happy. We enjoyed a luncheon afterwards with lots of catching up and friendly faces to remember while I felt down. I was looking much forward to when Brian would be able to receive his endowment in the Columbia River Temple in a few months but I know that God has other plans for this great man! :) I love him and my Heavenly Father very much."

Brian was a convert that Elder Brinkerhoff and I taught and baptized in Yakima. This happened a month after Mike Gilbert, another convert we taught and who was eventually baptized also passed away. It's incredibly reassuring to have a knowledge of God's Plan of Salvation. I am very blessed to be able to share this message. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's church on the earth.

Merry Christmas everyone!

 

Christmas time as a missionary is the best. We are so spiritually spoiled. :) We've had a great week. We found a great new family to teach that we are really excited about. Yvett and her son Xavier. They are so cool. We knocked on their door late on Wednesday night, had a quick lesson with Yvett, and then taught Yvett and Xavier on Saturday

 night. We taught the Restoration, and committed them to be baptized on the 23rd of January! Our next scheduled lesson is going to be a church tour at the stake center. It's amazing what we can promise to people as we teach them the Gospel! We get to tell them that they can be with their families forever! That's pretty cool! What's also cool, is to see people accept that unique doctrine and commit to act because they have faith that it is true, or even if it's just a belief that they can come to know that it is true.

 

We also had a great lesson last night with Milo and Sammy. Sammy is not a member, and Milo is an excommunicated member that is trying to come back and be baptized. We asked them what changes they had felt in their lives as they have met with the missionaries (for the last 15 months), and they just started talking and talking about how much the gospel has blessed their lives and the lives of their children. It was good to just let them talk. They are doing so well. We committed them to take time everyday and give themselves the opportunity to feel the Spirit. Even if it's just 5 minutes a day. We know and they know that that will allow them the opportunity to give the Spirit a chance to resolve any lingering concerns that are holding them back from being baptized.

 

Taking time every day to feel the Spirit is a must in this crazy world. That is my invitation for you! Take any amount of time you can and set it aside to read a scripture or two, say a prayer, or just sit still. I know that you will be able to find answers to questions and peace in a upside-down world. Jesus Christ is the Reason that we can feel peace, despite the mistakes that we have made. He Lives!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

 

This week has been good one. We had our Christmas Zone Conference, we went hay-ride caroling with the ward, and found an incredible new family to teach.

 

We have been studying the Gospels as a mission, and reading them has been a testimony building experience. I have learned a lot about how the Savior taught simply, but with power and authority. He was bold in warning against sin, but he was very willing to teach personally and lovingly. For as little as we have about the Savior's earthly life, we can learn so much from him.

We found an incredible new family to teach! (the cool thing about the Pasco 1st Ward is that everyone we talk to here is a family. Everyone. :) ) The Hernandez family is a family that has been prepared! We had a fantastic Restoration lesson with the husband (the wife and the two kids had to leave before we really got started). We had a member with us, and we were able to answer his questions, teach to his needs, and invite him to be baptized! He said that he absolutely would as he comes to know that the Book of Mormon is true! We're really excited to teach them.

 

On a more serious and somber note, last week, Mike Gilbert, who was an investigator that I taught and who was baptized in Kennewick, had a heart attack and passed away. We went to the viewing on Saturday. He was doing really well, and this kind of shocked everyone. Brenda, his wife, was at peace during the whole thing because she knew that Mike had found the truth and was going to be fine. The hope is that now she will continue to meet with the missionaries get baptized, and be sealed to Mike in the temple.

 

It's amazing what the Spirit and the gospel can do to comfort those who need it. This message of the Restored Gospel really does change lives and gives people a hope for a better world. Ether 12:4. With all my heart, I know that God is real. He is literally our Father in Heaven, and he loves us deeply. Christmas is a time for us to remember that we have a loving Father who sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die for us, and give us the opportunity to live with our families in God's presence for eternity.

Hello! (sorry about that blank one)

Transfers happened! Elder Coleman and I both stayed in Hermiston. This will be my third transfer here. All but one member of our district stayed here in Hermiston, and we added another companionship to our district: Elder and Sister Rathbun! They are a senior couple serving a proselyting mission down in the Monument and Fossil Branches. (It's about two or three hours away from Hermiston). They live in the Tri-Cities, but will be coming down here during the weekends. Our district is by far the biggest geographical district in our mission (it covers probably a little less than half of the mission. :) 

This week was awesome! We're teaching a man named Joseph. He's in his early 30's and he's an incredible guy. He's served about three years in Special Forces, he has multiple degrees, has owned several businesses, and wants to be baptized!!!!!!! (We all know what's most important there... ) Unfortunately, due to his military service, he is in the process of getting several knee surgeries that will prevent him from being baptized until probably the end of December. But he knows that this is Christ's Church on the earth! The biggest thing that helped him with that was the service that our Church renders to it's members. As the Body of Christ, we truly do take care of each other, and seeing that is what helped Joseph to accept the Gospel. So serve, and do it with joy! :)

We had a cool experience this week. In Elder's Quorum, our Elders Quorum President was teaching about missionary work last week, and he was telling us about an experience he has with giving a Book of Mormon to one of his neighbors. Well, on Saturday night, we were walking around in the dark (don't get me started on how dark it gets at nighttime here. We are dreading daylight savings time this week), and we start talking to a lady, and it is the same lady that our Elders Quorum President was working with! So we taught her about the Restoration, shared the First Vision, and set up and appointment for tomorrow night! It's not everyday you get a bio on your new investigators in church the week before you find them. :) 

Also, we were sitting in the Hermiston Ward's sacrament meeting, when in walks an investigator that I had taught in Yakima! She was baptized in August and had just moved to Hermiston on Saturday! It was so cool to see her and get to talk with her. 

Anyway, this week was awesome, but it always is when you are in the service of the Lord (Mosiah 2:17). As we serve those we love, our hearts are softened, and we are more able to reach out to more people in love. We are also able to discern the promptings of the Spirit more readily, which is something I've been noticing this week. I also wanted to follow up with the invitation I extended a few weeks ago. I asked everyone to pray and ask these five questions:

1.  Heavenly Father, are you really there?
2.   Do you really have a body of flesh and bones?
3.   Am I really your son or daughter?
4.   Do you really know me?
5.   Do you really love me?

What experiences have you had? I would love to be able to hear about them from you.

5 Questions

Hello Everyone! 

We just had a mission tour by Elder Daniel L. Johnson of the Seventy. He used to live in my grandparent's ward, so he actually knew how to say my name! :) General Authorities are the best! We only had a three hours with him, but I learned a ton. He talked about how our goals are only as good as our commitment to achieve them. We also talked a lot about how important the first principle in PMG we teach is (God is Our Loving Heavenly Father). One of the first things Satan does when he wants to draw us or people in general away is to confuse or destroy our image and knowledge of who our Heavenly Father really is. Elder Johnson instructed us to recommit ourselves to gaining and maintaining the strongest testimony we can muster of the nature and the reality of Heavenly Father. That's definitely something that I would invite you to do as well. Elder Johnson gave us five questions to ask Heavenly Father: 

1.  Heavenly Father, are you really there?
2.   Do you really have a body of flesh and bones?
3.   Am I really your son or daughter?
4.   Do you really know me?
5.   Do you really love me?

I know that Heavenly Father will answer those prayers if we are sincere.

General Conference is Coming!

General Conference!!!!!! Have you ever wanted to know what God would say if he were here? Or what Moses, or Isaiah, or Nephi, or Mormon would say if they were here today? We get to find out on Saturday and Sunday! General Conference is seriously one of the best blessings that we have. We get 10 hours to listen to prophets of God. Everyday I tell people that Jesus Christ has restored His Church through a prophet and that Christ directs that Church through a living prophet. And this week, we get to hear from him and the apostles. Jesus Christ lives. He is very real, and he is very concerned about us. And me. And you. He knows each of us by name, and he has restored His Church to bless us with the fullest measure of joy we can have in this life. 

We had interviews with President Ware on Friday. Something he counseled me on really stuck with me, and I wanted to share it with everyone else. He said that we don't have to let something we do wrong in the morning negatively affect the rest of our day. We can, at any time, get on our knees, plead for forgiveness, and trust the Savior to take our burdens from us. It takes work, and it takes a willingness to change and repent, but it is possible, and it can change our lives.

Christ is The Reason (CTR)

This week has been great! In district council we were discussing some things that we could do to improve and serve more as the Savior serves, and one of the things we wanted to do better on was church tours. We had a fantastic church tour with an investigator named Honey. The Spirit was extremely strong, and everyone there felt it. We brought two members, and they really brought a lot to the tour. Elder Coleman and I were both able to participate in teaching and testifying of the importance of the sacrament. Elder Coleman is awesome at bringing the Spirit by sharing his personal experiences with the Savior's atonement. I really am learning a lot from him about how to open up to people and talk with them. That's something I need improvement in, and Elder Coleman is fantastic at it, so it works out well. 

We were also able to drive up to Kennewick to see Mike's baptism. Elder Brinkerhoff and Elder Malcolm and I taught Mike until Elder Malcolm and I were transferred to Hermiston. I taught him for about four months, and he was finally baptized on Saturday. It was so cool to see him finally ready to be baptized! I could tell that he was committed to following the example of the Savior.

The Church is true! But more importantly, Jesus Christ is our Savior. He really is. I've been thinking a lot about that. Jesus is real. And He loves us so much. I am so grateful for the many blessings that I have received, but it is just as rewarding to see how the Lord blesses all of His children.

Welcome Elder Coleman to the WKM!

Hello Everyone!

Transfers have come and gone. My new companion's name is Elder Coleman! He's straight from the MTC (this is his 6th day in the field) and he is awesome! He's from Clinton, Utah (only my second companion of eight from Utah). He's awesome! He's a fantastic missionary; he's very prepared to serve a mission. He's a convert of about 8 years, and he has a fantastic testimony of the blessings that the gospel can bring to families. I'm really excited to work with him. 

We've had an inspiring week! Elder Malcolm and I drove up to Kennewick on Wednesday to pick up our new companions, and then we were back in Kennewick for our Trainer/Trainee meeting on Friday (9:00 to 4:00!), plus we had our zone meeting, so it feels like we've barely had any time to proselyte last week. 

Running out of time... All of our investigators are doing well, and we had three solid new investigators last week despite all of the craziness of transfers. We've really been focusing on talking with EVERYONE as a mission, and it's brought a ton of miracles to our district and our zone!

Transfers! And Baptisms!

Transfer calls came on Saturday! My companion, Elder Malcolm, who I just finished training, is going to be heading to Heppner, a town 45 minutes south of Hermiston, opening the area, and training new missionary! I'm super excited for him. He's an awesome missionary, and he's going to do some great things down there. He's still going to be in my district, so we still get to see each other. I'm going to be staying in Hermiston, and I'm going to be training another missionary. I'm super excited. I keep telling people the Lord is giving me a chance to repent and fix all the mistakes I made with Elder Malcolm. :) 

Chris was baptized on Saturday!!! He's so cool! It's been so much fun to teach him, because he already knows everything. And we had the tiny little room that the baptismal font is in packed with his wife's family, who are all active members. It was a great experience watching him be baptized and confirmed. 

We found a lot of new people to teach this week, including an awesome family that we are so excited to teach. Elder Malcolm and I have had an enormous amount of growth here. I'm really sad to see Elder Malcolm go, but I know that this next transfer will be just as good. 

The Church is true, and the Savior can help each of us deal with anything that we are going through. I know that He lives. He is the Reason.
